         As a Chinese saying goes, “The whole year’s work depends on a good start in spring.” The Spring Festival Overture Chinese folk concert, full of the festival mood of the Chinese New Year, will feature the best wishes and expectations of the Chinese people for the year to come, and send a message of peace and harmony to all peoples of the world. The 45-minute concert, performed by the folk music troupe of China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, highlights the three features of “fusing music and dance, integrating culture and tourism, and a harmonious Spring Festival” with nine pieces of music on celebrating the Chinese New Year from various regions and ethnic groups of China. The pieces are folk orchestra Spring Festival Overture, Shanxi folk music Watching Yangko, satar and band Red Flowers in Snow, Korean ethnic chamber music Traditional Tunes, erhu, Xinjiang dance, and band The Grapes Are Ripe, Chinese zither and fan dance Lofty Mountains and Flowing Water, Yunnan folk music Cai Xi, jinghu, long-sleeve dance, and band Deep in the Night, and folk orchestra Blooming Flowers and Full Moon.
