"March 3rd" is an important traditional festival for the people of all ethnic groups in Guangxi, and its position in the hearts of Guangxi people is no less than the Spring Festival. In 2014, March 3rd (March 3rd of Zhuang Nationality) was included in the list of China's national intangible cultural heritage expansion projects.

March 3rd has a long history, which can be traced back to the "Shangsi Festival of March 3rd" in the Han Dynasty. The Annals of Zhen'an Prefecture and Lingyun County during the reign of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty recorded the scenes of making five colored glutinous rice, sweeping tombs and gathering for drinks during March 3rd.

During March 3rd, people of all ethnic groups in Guangxi offered sacrifices and prayed for blessings, sang folk songs to each other, threw hydrangeas, grabbed fireworks, and traded with each other for mutual benefit, so as to enhance exchanges and integration among ethnic groups. With the development of society, the contents of March 3rd of Zhuang Nationality have been expanding and become an important cultural symbol in Guangxi.
