On May 13 local time, the "Panda-Themed Interactive Art Experience" was successfully held at the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg. Jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg, the China-Europe Cultural Exchange Center, and the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Center, and hosted by Beijing Saiseboyi Cultural & Artistic Co., Ltd., the event specially invited students from Lycée Ermesinde to participate. Through a variety of engaging activities, the event offered young participants a close-up experience of the unique charm of Chinese culture.
Centered around the giant panda—an iconic symbol of Chinese culture—the event combined various art forms including painting, calligraphy, and music to create an immersive cultural experience for the students. Under the guidance of instructors, the students enthusiastically added vibrant colors to a giant canvas featuring panda designs, unleashing their creativity. They also hand-painted three-dimensional panda sculptures, giving each "panda" a unique personality and life, expressing their interest in and affection for Chinese culture.
In the calligraphy experience session, a special “Lanting Gathering”–themed interactive activity was held. Dr. Zhang Shaohui, an invited calligraphy enthusiast, gave students an engaging introduction to the evolution of Chinese characters and the fundamental features of Chinese calligraphy. He also demonstrated how to properly hold a brush and the techniques for starting and finishing strokes. With a lighthearted and humorous approach, Dr. Zhang guided the students in copying meaningful Chinese characters such as “Chinese culture,” and encouraged them to write words or phrases they personally liked using a brush. Through this hands-on experience, the students came to appreciate the beauty and charm of Chinese characters and developed a deepened interest in Chinese writing and culture.
During the guzheng (Chinese zither) experience session, students learned basic playing techniques under the guidance of guzheng instructor Liu Yan. They had the opportunity to personally play melodies rich in traditional Chinese charm, immersing themselves in the beauty of Eastern music. Many students, encountering the guzheng for the first time, showed great curiosity and enthusiasm, expressing a strong interest in further exploring Chinese music in the future.
The event also thoughtfully prepared a selection of panda-themed cultural gifts with distinct Chinese characteristics for the students, including pens, notebooks, coin purses, small backpacks, panda plush toys, and panda badges. These heartfelt souvenirs not only became cherished memories for the students, but also symbolized the growing friendship between Chinese and Luxembourgish youth.
By using the friendly image of the panda as a bridge for cultural exchange, the event offered local students a joyful and engaging opportunity to experience the unique charm of Chinese culture. It further deepened mutual understanding and friendship between the young generations of China and Luxembourg. Looking ahead, the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg will continue to develop diverse cultural programs to promote sustained and in-depth people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
