On February 27 (local time), the China Cultural Center in Luxembourg successfully hosted a Youth Open Day event, attracting nearly 30 students from three schools: Lycée classique de Diekirch, Lycée Garçon de Luxembourg, and Lycée Nic-Biever. The event aimed to deepen Luxembourgish youth's understanding of Chinese culture, enhance Sino-Luxembourg cultural exchange, and explore the unique charm of Chinese civilization together.
Making Friends Through Go, Blending Wisdom Together
On the day of the event, students first experienced Go, an ancient Chinese intellectual game. Under the guidance of the instructor, they learned the basic rules of Go and attempted to strategize on the black-and-white board, experiencing the wisdom of planning and decision-making. This game of strategy not only sharpened their thinking skills but also gave them a deep appreciation of the philosophical wisdom embedded in Eastern chess culture.
The Melodious Sound of the Qin, Music Filling the Air
Next, the Guzheng experience session immersed the students in the elegance of traditional Chinese music. Under the teacher’s demonstration, they tried plucking the strings with their fingertips, experiencing the beauty of flowing melodies. They not only learned about the history and playing techniques of the Guzheng but also practiced a short tune, feeling the unique rhythm of traditional Chinese music through its enchanting sounds.
Imprinting Blessings with Ink, Writing Auspiciousness
Chinese traditional calligraphy and rubbing art are another highlight of this event. Under the guidance of the teacher, students learn how to use traditional rubbing techniques to create auspicious characters. Through steps such as dipping ink, covering paper, and applying even pressure, they personally produce imprints of auspicious words. Seeing their own rubbing works, many students excitedly take out their cameras to capture the moment.
The culture of the Chinese zodiac has a long and rich history
In addition, the students visited the Year of the Snake Zodiac Culture Exhibition, gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural connotations and historical origins of the Chinese zodiac. The exhibition provided a detailed introduction to the symbolic meaning of the snake in Chinese culture and how zodiac traditions influence people's daily lives and folk beliefs. Vivid images and detailed explanations gave students a more intuitive understanding of Chinese zodiac culture.
